Off To Boston

Last Thursday, Rivers enjoyed one last day to play in the pool before we leave for Boston for her left knee surgery. Daniel, Rivers, and I leave tomorrow, August 3rd, and her surgery is scheduled for Thursday the 6th. We have equal amounts of dread and hope as we go into another surgery with Rivers. We always hate the actual surgery experience, but God has brought so much good out of these surgeries that we are praying He will work again and enable Rivers to have more flexion (ability to bend) in her knee. Please keep Dr. Kasser in your prayers as he works on Rivers this Thursday. He has admitted that her case is very challenging since her knee cap is about the size of a fingernail and the Arthrogryposis in her lower extremities causes the muscles above the knee to be so tight. He needs Divine wisdom! Rivers will be in a leg cast and wheelchair for 6 weeks. Compared to her previous body cast last winter, we are excited that she will feel more freedom with just her left leg immobilized. We will do our best to keep the blog updated while we are away. Thank you all for your prayers for our sweet girl! She continues to be our little miracle, and we are so thankful to be her parents!
It is so interesting to watch Jackson as he is growing and going 100 miles an hour! He is so confident in the baby pool, walking from one side to the other without falling. We have to stop ourselves from being his constant shadow as we have had to do with Rivers to prevent her from hurting herself. The other day, he hopped on one of Rivers ride on toys (one that you move the steering wheel side to side) and began to go all the way down the driveway with his little feet moving like Fred Flintstone! This is what he physically should be doing at this age, but I am so conditioned to what Rivers is able to do that I forget my 22 month old can do so much! He is our little daredevil!
